ES IS ZUM SCHEISSN – Punk in Vienna 1977–1988 was a project cooked up by Thomas Reitmayer. The film came out in 2019, but blink and you missed it — it vanished from public view faster than a punk with a court date. Why? A spicy cocktail of copyright drama, personal beefs, public yelling matches, and a cast of very extroverted personalities. Classic punk chaos.
From the get-go, there were dreams of dropping a soundtrack to go with it. The film had its premiere in a cozy Viennese indie cinema in October 2019, but then — plot twist — Thomas Reitmayer passed away suddenly in May 2020 from a heart attack. Total shocker.
Fast forward a few years (because nothing punk happens on time), and now, finally, the LP is hitting the shelves — and it’s bringing the film along for the ride on a bonus DVD! This resurrection is brought to you by the fine folks at Exil Records and Bachelor Records. The cover art was done by Robert Räudig (of CHUZPE fame), and the mastering was handled by Eric Brady from Windian Records — basically, it sounds amazing and looks like it could bite you.
